Amanda kreiger announced as next executive director

a statement from board president erica unger, on united way oxford's leadership transition

As President of the Board of Directors for United Way Oxford, I am pleased to share that Amanda Kreiger will be our next Executive Director, effective this October, following Kelly Gilson’s planned retirement. The Board is unanimous in our excitement about her transition into this role.

“Amanda has been a valued member of the United Way Oxford team for more than a decade, and we have every confidence in her ability to lead our organization into its next chapter. She brings incredible skills, deep local knowledge, strong community relationships, and a long-standing commitment to Oxford County. Throughout her time with United Way Oxford, she has worked closely with community partners, donors, volunteers, and funded agencies to advance our mission. Amanda is perfectly suited to lead our United Way into our next chapter,” explained Erica Unger, Board President, United Way Oxford.

This transition reflects thoughtful succession planning and our confidence in Amanda’s leadership and vision. Amanda understands this community deeply, leads with integrity and compassion, and is well-positioned to guide United Way Oxford forward while building on the strong foundation that Kelly Gilson, our retiring Executive Director, has created. Amanda has been engaged in the national United Way Movement and brings a wealth of skills to ensure that our United Way continues to evolve to best meet local needs.

Over the coming months, Amanda will work alongside Kelly to ensure a smooth transition for our staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners. Kelly will retire in September after years of dedicated service to United Way Oxford and the broader community.

“I’m deeply grateful to the Board for their trust and honoured to be approached for this position. United Way Oxford has been part of my life and my connection to this community for many years, and taking on this role is both humbling and meaningful, especially following Kelly’s incredible dedication over the past 23 years. I care deeply about this community and the people who call Oxford County home. I’m committed to building on the strong foundation already in place by listening, working alongside our partners, and doing everything I can to support a community where everyone feels they belong and has the opportunity to thrive,” expressed Amanda Kreiger.

The United Way Oxford Board wishes to thank Kelly again for her dedication and leadership, and we are excited to continue working with Amanda as she embraces her new role of Executive Director and prepares to lead this organization into an exciting future that will see United Way Oxford thrive while meeting existing and emerging community needs.
