Day of Caring

Day of Caring is a unique initiative that has been connecting local workplaces and United Way partners together since 2006. The event is all about coming together to feel the power of working together to give back and make a difference in your school, neighbourhood, workplace, town and community. By taking a moment to show some local love, we are each empowered to improve lives and build strong communities.

In addition to the project-based initiatives, individuals, families and workplaces are invited to join United Way Oxford on June 4 as we celebrate the annual Day of Caring. We encourage the community to find creative ways to give back and have fun together by completing simple acts of kindness in their neighbourhood. United Way Oxford wants to spread the love on our social media, so be sure to tag @UnitedWayOxford and use the hashtag #UWODayofCaring when posting about your Day of Caring activities.

Projects span across Oxford County, and this day demonstrates the power of volunteers and the collective impact we have when we work together.

Our 2026 Day of Caring event took place on June 4. Join us next year on the first Thursday of June!

Every day Ways to show you care

Day of Caring is about turning small acts into big impact, together! Here are a few ways for you to show you care every day:

  • Pay it forward: buy an extra coffee for someone just because!
  • Help a neighbour: Check in with a neighbour, help with their yardwork or drop off some treats.
  • Write a positive Google Review: The business community is a generous supporter of United Way Oxford. Let’s show them some Google Review love!
  • Donate items to a women’s shelter: Commonly needed items include toys, puzzles, diapers, pillows, sheet sets, towels, bathing items, school snacks, pyjamas, and baby wipes.
