Investment Review Process
Each year, requests for funding are reviewed by the Community Impact Council, a volunteer committee with a variety of experiences and perspectives. The volunteers use their unique perspectives, guided by United Way Oxford’s investment strategy, to make investment recommendations to the board of directors.
Dates
While the exact dates change from year to year, applicants should understand that the general process is as follows:
- September: Call for Statements of Interest
- December: Eligible agencies are invited to submit a full application
- January-February: Eligible agencies are invited to present to the Community Impact Council
- March: Board of Directors reviews Community Impact Council recommendations
- April: First payments are disbursed to funded agencies
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for funding, the agency must:
- Be a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency
- Have an active, community-based board of directors, or are affiliated with a regional/national/provincial head office through a local management group
- Have annual financial statements that have been audited by a licensed public accountant or, for those with annual revenues of less than $100,000, a financial review
- Demonstrate fiscal and managerial responsibility
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Provide programs and services that directly benefit the Oxford County community.
- Be inclusive and not deemed discriminatory as defined by the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Organizations providing programs and services that address local issues are invited to make an application for funding. Applications open annually in September.

Community Initiative Fund
The Community Initiative Fund is available throughout the year for small pilot projects or emerging needs.
