Bonnie Buchanan - Community volunteer
Bonnie’s dedication, passion, and hard work have made an incredible impact on our community, and we are so grateful to have her as part of our team!
Bonnie began volunteering with us in 2009 through her position in the payroll department at the Woodstock Hospital, when she joined the United Way Planning Committee for the Hospital’s Campaign. She was instrumental in rallying her co-workers to participate in pizza lunch and a dunk tank event to name just a couple of things, while promoting payroll donations. She stayed a part of the United Way Campaign until her retirement in 2022, helping raise over $180,000 for our community!
Since her retirement, Bonnie has continued to show unwavering commitment to helping others. Whether it’s lending a hand at events or working behind the scenes at our office with administrative tasks or calling to thank our donors, Bonnie consistently goes above and beyond.
What makes Bonnie so special is not just her reliability and enthusiasm, but her positive attitude – always with a smile on her face and a willingness to help wherever it’s needed most. We are incredibly grateful for all that Bonnie brings to our team and for being an incredible example of what it means to volunteer and give back.

The Taylors - A Legacy of Giving
Meet Beth and Don Taylor—longtime community champions whose love for volunteering shines through everything they do.
“We volunteer for a raft of selfish reasons. Volunteering feeds our souls and brings great joy. We want our grandchildren to see the value in volunteering. We know we are helping our neighbours. It’s the best job in the world!”
From their years as educators to their retirement filled with even more community involvement, Beth and Don remind us what it means to give back with heart.
Thank you, Beth and Don, for being such an inspiring example of spreading local love right here in Oxford County.

Julie Martens - Enthusiasm and Energy Personified in a Workplace Volunteer
As Employee Campaign Champion at St Patrick’s School in Woodstock, Julie dove right in having us come to speak at a Staff Meeting early in the campaign to engage her team. Not only has she doubled the number of donors at St Pat’s, she increased payroll donations and raised funds through school events like Pyjama Day and a Junior Dance for Local Love Week. Julie’s energy is refreshing and her engagement helps support the success of our campaign!
According to Julie, “Our United Way volunteer efforts are truly making a positive impact! By organizing fun events like PJ days and lunch hour dances, we’re not only boosting school morale and spirit but also teaching kids valuable lessons about giving back and social justice. It’s rewarding to see our efforts come together to support a great cause and inspire the next generation of community leaders.”
