United Way Oxford, Southwestern Public Health, Oxford County Library, and the Woodstock Public Library are co-presenting Pull Up a Chair: Building Connection Close to Home, an event series designed to help older adults build new friendships and meaningful connections in their communities.
The free series, facilitated using GenWell content, offers three identical workshops at libraries across Oxford County. Participants can choose the location most convenient for them and explore the importance of social connection and how meaningful relationships improve quality of life, health, and overall well-being.
“Social connection is an important part of healthy aging. Creating opportunities for older adults to build friendships, share experiences, and strengthen their sense of belonging can have a lasting impact on health and well-being,” said Meagan Lichti, Public Health Nurse with Southwestern Public Health.
Two weeks after each workshop, participants will be invited back for a relaxed social gathering featuring conversation, refreshments, and an opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces. The gatherings are intended to help participants continue building relationships in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.
The series is open to older adults across Oxford County, including those looking to expand their social circles, meet new people, or simply enjoy meaningful conversation with others.
