Help us fight period poverty

Our Women United Committee is excited to launch the 2026 Period Promise (formerly Tampon Tuesday) campaign to ensure no one in our community faces period poverty, with a month-long product drive and a networking event on Tuesday, March 3.

Every donation of a menstrual product to our Period Promise campaign stays in the community where it is given, directly reaching those who need access to free products. We’ve heard from our partners that they’re being asked for a wide variety of products, not just pads and tampons.

Examples of items include period underwear, and menstrual cups. Last year, the event brought in 1,413 boxes of product and supported 20 organizations across Oxford County. Through this campaign, every donation will help provide menstrual products directly to those in need in Oxford County, ensuring they can menstruate with dignity.

What is Period Poverty?

Period poverty is the inability for a person to afford or access menstrual products.

  • 1 in 6 Canadians who menstruate have experienced period poverty.[1]
  • When someone can’t afford products, they ration, reuse, or use them longer than they should, opening themselves up to a higher risk of infection.[1]
  • 1 in 5 Canadians who menstruate say they may not afford period products in the next 12 months.[2]
  • Reducing period poverty means unlocking potential in innovation, productivity, leadership, and wellbeing.[1]
  • 15% of people in Canada who menstruate said the inability to afford period products held them back from daily activities.[3]
