Our first ever United Way Oxford Local Love Week runs from February 10th through February 17th 2023!
This is one week out of the year that we shine a huge spot light about how you show, support and give Local Love and why it’s so important to do so, not only this week… but every day. We want to share how being “Together More Than Ever” and showing your Local Love will make meaningful impact in the community where you both live in and love, and how everyone has an opportunity to make a difference! What better week to showcase Local Love than the week of Valentine’s Day when love is in the air! With needs increasing every day we are trying to raise funds as we approach the end of our campaign year to ensure the programs and agencies that need funding have those funds available. Join us and help us raise some funds and show your Local Love!
Here’s how you can participate!
Day 1 – Friday February 10th
We kick off with “the Perfect Match”. By making a donation to United Way Oxford, your impact will be DOUBLED by the Dr. Leonard Reeves Foundation for all donations (up to $5,000). Visit www.unitedwayoxford.ca/donate
Day 2 – Saturday February 11th
Help shine a spotlight on the best kept secret when it comes to navigating social services, programs and community supports. Tell a friend, family member, or share on your social media to spread the word of 211. By dialing 2-1-1 you will be able to tap into resources and supports specific to your needs, when it works best for you. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 211 is there to help.
Day 3 – Sunday February 12th
Love is in the HAIR! Our Campaign Chair, Brad Janssen is going all-in on Local Love! If we can raise $5,000 in Local Love Week donations, Brad has vowed to shave his head! And remember, that $5,000 will then be MATCHED by the generous support of the Dr. Leonard Reeves Foundation, providing twice the impact on our local community! Visit www.unitedwayoxford.ca/donate
Day 4 – Monday February 13th
Making Valentine Dinner plans? You’ll certainly want to consider Boston Pizza Woodstock! Dine in or take out with Boston Pizza Woodstock on February 14th and they will donate $1 from every Heart Shaped Pizza and Chocolate Explosion dessert sold. They are also accepting donations of $2, $5, and $10 towards a paper heart to help fill their walls with Local Love! With all funds raised supporting the work of United Way Oxford!

Day 5 – Tuesday February 14th
Let’s raise a glass to Local Love! Our friends at Upper Thames Brewing Company have once again released their Local Love Beer, donating $0.50 from every Local Love Beer sold! With all donations being invested into local programs supported by United Way Oxford. Get yours today!
Day 6 – Wednesday February 15th
Why is giving back important? Well did you know that through the work of United Way Oxford, we actively support 1 in 5 local residents through our funded programs? Be sure to check out our social media channels this day to learn more about Brad and his perspective of why local love is important, and learn a bit of a history of his hair as he puts it all on the line for charity! Should we raise $5,000 during Local Love Week, Brad is going to shave his head! Day 7 – Wednesday February 16th
Let’s create a sea of red across our community! Wear red on this day and show that you have a part in local love! Encourage other to participate as well, and share that all monetary donations to United Way Oxford are MATCHED during Local Love Week! Our community needs it now more than ever! Day 8 – Thursday February 17th
Because there is so much Love in Oxford County we added an extra day to the week! Day 8 of Local Love Week also happens to land on Random Acts of Kindness Day! Simply show kindness to others this day, and take the extra step to do something kind for someone. There’s a million ways you can do something that will result in a smile.
