What the day is all about
Day of Caring is a unique initiative that has been connecting local workplaces and United Way partners together since 2006. The event is all about coming together to feel the power of working together to give back and make a difference in your school, neighbourhood, workplace, town and community. By taking a moment to show some local love, we are each empowered to improve lives and build strong communities.
In addition to the project-based initiatives, individuals, families and workplaces are invited to join United Way Oxford on June 5th as we celebrate the annual Day of Caring. The community is encouraged to find creative ways to give back and have fun together by completing simple acts of kindness in their neighbourhood. United Way Oxford wants to spread the love on our social media, so be sure to tag @UnitedWayOxford and use the hashtag #UWODayofCaring2025 when posting about your Day of Caring activities.
Projects span across Oxford County and this day demonstrates the power of volunteers and the collective impact we have when we work together.

How to get involved:
FOR NON-PROFIT PROJECT HOSTS
Non-profit organizations that wish to host volunteers to complete a project are required to submit a proposal. If you have never participated in the Day of Caring, we encourage you to get creative and think about how your organization could use 4-10 volunteers to help you for a day. Past projects often include things like painting and gardening but have also included more labour-intensive projects like building raised planter beds, assembling new furniture and more. Once the projects are submitted, United Way Oxford will do its very best to secure the volunteers and sponsorship necessary to complete your project.

FOR CORPORATE PARTNER/COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER TEAMS
Get your volunteer team together to support United Way Oxford’s mission of improving lives locally and mobilizing collective action! Day of Caring provides hands-on volunteer opportunities within a local non-profit’s building or program space. Participants look forward to the opportunity to complete much needed projects while gaining valuable, behind-the scenes insights into the work of local community organizations.
Volunteer teams can expect to not only have a fun and meaningful experience with their peers, but they will also learn about the issues facing their community and how local organizations work to address those challenges through their work.
