Oxford County, ON, Thursday March 22, 2018 — Tonight, United Way Oxford supporters, volunteers, partners and community champions gathered to celebrate an inspiring year of generosity and commitment.
“I’m a strong believer in supporting local community,” said Leslie Farrell, United Way Oxford Campaign Chair. “I live in Oxford County. I own a business here. I believe that when we rally together to support one another, great things happen. In the fall, we announced an ambitious goal of $1.2M. Six months later, we are celebrating a record achievement ($1,221,688) and the efforts of many who have given so generously of their time, money and skill. I feel fortunate to have met so many remarkable people, I’m already looking forward to next year.”
Kelly Gilson, Executive Director of United Way Oxfords adds “This remarkable achievement is a result of our community coming together. We celebrated many firsts in 2017 including the fruition of the Vollmershausen Leadership Challenge Grant. A grant that inspired Oxford County residents to consider a leadership gift. All new $1200+ donations were matched, dollar for dollar. Our community answered the challenge maxing out the $50,000 grant.”
“In addition to my role as Campaign Chair, I am also a Board Member,” said Farrell. “Part of our responsibility is ensuring that we are investing this revenue to have maximum impact, into targeted programs that support our community founded strategies. Programs that help meet basic needs, empower our children and youth and build strong, healthy communities. Your one donation is leveraged into many different measurable programs. It makes a difference every single day.”
United Way Oxford extends its sincere gratitude to our community for their trust and support. We want to thank Quality Hotel & Suites & Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada for generously sponsoring the Community Celebration.
