Each year, United Way Oxford honours the legacy of Mr. Wes Magill, a local business leader and community champion who was committed to making our community a better place to call home. In partnership with the Magill family, United Way Oxford was proud to present this year’s prestigious award to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada.
“This award has tremendous meaning to our organization. It represents Mr. Magill’s beliefs, support and deep commitment to giving back. TMMC and their employees embody all this award represents. Since the West Plant opened its doors in Woodstock, this group has been a vital partner to United Way,” said Kelly Gilson, Executive Director with United Way Oxford. She adds, “They dedicate hundreds of volunteer hours every year. From leadership at a board level to volunteering at initiatives like Day of Caring, you can always count on the TMMC team to show their community spirit. In addition to time, they run an annual workplace campaign to help raise funds to invest in our community.”
TMMC leads by example in their efforts to build a healthy Oxford County. They demonstrate commitment to employee engagement by regularly offering a variety of opportunities that encourage employees to learn more about the needs in their community, deepen their knowledge of local programs and services and how they personally can give back. “Wes Magill was influential in ensuring the mission of our organization was supported by local businesses and individuals with the goal of building a strong community. Today, we celebrate TMMC’s commitment to keeping that vision strong,” said Gilson.
The award was presented to TMMC and their employees at the Woodstock Rotary Luncheon on October 30th.
